Restaurante Nova China - Chu Yen Kun

I had here a pretty good experience and, given how this restaurant might present some benign problems that will have people judging it too harshly I want to be clear: Do try this place and give it a chance, I was pleasantly surprised as many others reviewers here were too. The front of the restaurant is poorly planned and, once you go in, it does not have much light in there, which, especially in contrast to a sunny day, gives off a bad vibe, but that does not reflect bad quality. These just make this place not attractive and, without costumers, they might not have the flexibility, suggestions or resources to improve. It does have nice decoration and is in good condition. Only lacks light to show that. The workers were not acting professionally, they did not show typical waiter skills, but they were making an effort in their actions, they were being available, nice and inviting all the way, as well as mentioning that the delicious sauces they added to our table were homemade. The food was very good. It was served at perfect time and temperature, had an incredible amount of choices, had great flavour and worked well with the provided sauces, the quantity was just right and the price is arguably very good. I was pretty sceptic going in, but the entire experience was truly pleasant. I do hope the restaurant can attract more costumers and be more popular. Do invest in your storefront. Show your name and at least one of your menus in a big image and its price for people to notice the restaurant, get closer and see the many good cheap menus. If no one goes into an empty restaurant it'll never have the chance to stop being empty. Most empty restaurants might not be good. I believe this one deserves the chance to show to more people it's not one of those.

We have been here a View times now. It's a Family owned restaurant who have allot of experience of good service. The menu shows allot of options and does not dissapoint. There are also very nice pre made menu options to choose from. I don't eat duck but if I understood my partner the duck dishes are great! For me it's important to have good vegetarian /vegan options which they have!! A good choice for everyone's pallet and budget!

Really great food. Since I come from an Asian country I eat Chinese almost Everyday. I also travel a lot and during my experiences in other countries this is by far the best Chinese meal I have ever had. I have been to some other Chinese food places in Portugal but none quite match to this. The service quality here is amazing, the owner is prompt and loves a good conversation. I would highly advise coming here if you are seeking a authentic, good quality Chinese meal. ( once there, Ask the owner of her interesting family background :)

Wow just had a fantastic meal here. This is a family business with the chef being 2nd generation the front of house 3rd generation and we even got a chance to meet the granddaughter (4th gen) who will hopefully take over one day. The food is authentic and told that they are one of the few Chinese restaurants in Europe to still make noodles fresh each day. And they were delicious. The hot and sour and won ton soup started the meal on the right track and set the bar. The garlic prawns for main had to be my fav. All dishes are freshly made to order so expect dishes to come out at different timings. Speaking to the waitress, she helped us select their speciality dishes and even said how people from China come especially to enjoy the noodles. Definitely need to pop back here when in Porto again
